The growing season is upon us! We're coming together with our neighbors to imagine possibilities and make plans for Summerhill's community garden at 440 Connally Street SE. There are so many ways to get involved!

4/20/2024: Earth Day Event
Join us for a community picnic at Summerhill's Phoenix Park II to celebrate Earth Day 2024! Thanks to the support of our local businesses and partners, the SNDC and community garden crew are planning a full slate of family-friendly activities, workshops, and giveaways for all of our neighbors. 10 a.m.–1 p.m., Phoenix Park II at the corner of Georgia Ave. and Connally St. SE
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HELPED WITH OUR MARCH CLEAN-UP EVENT!
In partnership with the Organized Neighbors of Summerhill, and with the support and participation of our community, we successfully cleared the garden of debris, cleaned up the surrounding area, and together imagined possibilities for everything from new plots and composting to gathering areas and beekeeping!
OPEN CALL FOR DONATIONS: TOOLS + SUPPLIES
The SNDC is a registered 501c3 and welcomes donations for the Summerhill Community Garden, in particular any gently used gardening tools and/or supplies you would like to share with your fellow growers. Please contact the SNDC at (404)586-0150 or by email at info@thesndc.org to arrange drop-off, or with any questions you may have about your supplies donation.
OPEN CALL FOR GENERAL FUND DONATIONS
Please consider supporting our fundraising efforts with a gift toward the SNDC's procurement of materials, supplies, and services to bring us closer to our goal of reopening the garden to the community in the near future. The SNDC, a registered 501c3, welcomes donations of any size specifically for the garden through the Summerhill Community Garden crowdfunding page.

The Longer View
While plans for the future of the Summerhill Community Garden are in action, all good things take time!
The Summerhill Community Garden at 440 Connally Street dates back to 2015 and over the years has taken different forms. With the help of our neighbors and partners, the SNDC and Summerhill Community Garden steering committee are developing plans for a renewed space.
Current phases and ideas include grounds cleanup and soil preparation; creating new plots for our community, donation plots to serve those in need, and demonstration plots for experimentation and education; and building up areas around the beds with all kinds of other inclusive community spaces for gathering, growing, teaching, and learning.
